Warranty terms are a critical factor when choosing an SSD OEM partner. Understanding standard warranty periods, what is covered, and how to handle returns will protect your business and your brand reputation.
| SSD Type | Standard Warranty | Negotiable |
|---|---|---|
| Consumer NVMe/SATA | 3 years | Up to 5 years for volume |
| Industrial SSD | 3-5 years | Custom terms available |
| Enterprise SSD | 5 years | 5 years standard |
Typical OEM warranty covers manufacturing defects, premature failure (before rated TBW or age), and DOA (dead on arrival) units. Most OEM partners offer advance replacement for DOA units within the first 30 days.
Physical damage, electrical damage from improper use, data recovery, and wear-out beyond rated TBW are typically excluded. Clarify these terms in your OEM agreement.
Larger orders command better terms. Request extended warranty for volume commitments, advance replacement for critical SKUs, and reduced RMA processing times. ORION offers warranty terms tailored to each OEM partnership.
